Senate Vows Strict Oversight of Rivers’ N1.48trn Budget

The Senate has pledged close monitoring of the N1.48 trillion 2025 budget submitted by Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), under the ongoing emergency rule.
Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, assured that spending will be tracked for transparency, value, and impact across key sectors. Ibas flagged missing 2024 records as a major challenge, blaming the previous administration. The Senate reiterated that the emergency rule is a constitutional measure, not a substitute for democracy.
