Team Make Ogbunike Great Host Officers of the National Human Rights Commission

The Convener of Team Make Ogbunike Great TMOG, and Grand Patron of Otu Ndi Akajiofor na Ogbunike Dr. Chuma-Odili Harris Udokamma a.k.a Ogene Ogbunike has played host to Anambra State Officers of the National Human Rights Commission. The epoch event which held at the country home of Ogene Ogbunike on Thursday, 22nd May 2025, was designed to create awareness amongst the citizens of Ogbunike on human rights and rule of law.
Ogene explained that the Team Make Ogbunike Great TMOG decided to train people so that they know their rights, so that they would be in position to help others whose rights are violated and trampled upon.
“This is why TMOG organised this training workshop and invite officers of the National Human Rights Commission for lectures and training to deepen human rights culture in the community.
“I urge all those in position of authority in Ogbunike be it age grades,Umunna, Village Union, town Union governments, and traditional institutions to use their office to support the people and to avoid oppressing the people. I urge you to join hands with Team Make Ogbunike Great TMOG to make Ogbunike a better place for all”, he said.
Ogene lamented that enforcing the rights and knowledge of the rights of the people has been a problem in the society.
He noted most times when police arrest someone, that person usually don’t know what to do next because they lack knowledge of their rights and what they entail.
Ogene pledged the readiness of the TMOG to work with the National Human Rights Commission in the sensitization and awareness campaign.
Elder Dr. Obi Anyanyo who is the National Leader of Ogene Ogbunike Movement, stated that there is a link between human rights and traditional institutions, stressing that culture must also have a place on rights issues.
Dr Anyanyo explained that there is a link between human right and traditional institutions adding, “they are involved in justice, arbitration, settlement of disputes in many ways.”
He reminded members of the group that they should always consider culture in all that they do, advising, “if you want to settle dispute, you must also consider the culture of the people”
Dr Anyanyo assured them that when Ogene becomes Igwe Ogbunike, the traditional institutions in the area would work with the Commission and ensure that they succeed.
“Ogene Ogbunike will partner with the Commission to protect the right of the people. He will not take the rights of the people for granted. Ogene Ogbunike Movement will collaborate with the Commission to achieve their goals.
The Anambra state Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission Barr Obinna Maduforo who led the officers urged the people of Ogbunike to report any acts of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and suspected cases of human rights violation to the Commission. He said that his office does not demand for payments on any case reported to Commission.
