16 Parties Submit Candidates For Anambra Governorship Election Ahead Of Deadline.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Nigeria has confirmed that 16 political parties successfully uploaded their candidates’ nomination forms for the Anambra State Governorship election by the deadline of 6:00 PM on May 12, 2025.
The dedicated portal for submissions closed promptly at that time.Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, announced in a press statement that the parties met all legal requirements.
As outlined in Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC has published the personal particulars of each candidate and their running mates. These details, including copies of Form EC9 and accompanying academic credentials, are displayed at INEC’s State Headquarters and across all 21 local government offices in Anambra State.Olumekun encouraged citizens to scrutinize the documents. “Any aspirant who participated in party primaries and has reasonable grounds to believe that a candidate has provided false information can challenge the nomination in a Federal High Court,” he stated, referencing Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022.The final list of candidates will be published on June 9, 2025, in accordance with Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, ensuring compliance with the electoral timetable.With the Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for November 8, 2025, INEC is committed to following all legal provisions to facilitate a successful electoral process.
