5 Lord's Chosen Church members cheat death in auto crash

www.odogwublog.com reports that five members of the Lord's Chosen Church from Benin, Edo state cheated death in Awka when the vehicle they were traveling to Abakaliki Ebonyi state crashed into a gutter in Awka yesterday.

The five persons came out unhurt in a motor accident involving a Mercedes 190 with registration number MUS984BX, on the Enugu-Onitsha expressway opposite Government House Awka.

The accident which was said to be caused by faulty break system , occurred around 3:13pm, but none of the five occupants of the vehicle was injured.

Officials of Nigerian the Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC helped the victims out from the vehicle which fell into drainage channel by the roadside.

An occupant of the vehicle, Sister Ruth Kalu, who was sitting at the front of the vehicle when the accident happened, attributed the cause to faulty brake system as according to her, she noticed when the driver was struggling with the brake pedal and it couldn't respond.

She said they were heading to Abakiliki after a three day crusade held by the Lord's Chosen Church at Benin, and thanked God that none of the five people in the vehicle was injured.

Another occupant of the vehicle, Brother Kenneth Ozumeh, described their safety as the act of God as none could believe they came out unscratched.
Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp, Mr. Sunday Ajayi, regretted the rate at which accidents occur in the area, advising road users especially drivers to always be vigilant and reduce their speed while plying the road as the topography of the area is sloppy.

Mr. Ajayi use the opportunity to call on road users to always be obedient to road safety laws as it is for their own safety even as he warned drivers against over speeding and carelessness on the highway, as according to him they are the major causes of road crashes.

An eye witness informed that the driver after struggling with his brake smashed another private car coming out from the Civil Defence junction in the area and damaged the front beyond repair.
Meanwhile a fortnight ago a toddler crawls out of car crash at the same spot which left one dead, and 6 injured in Awka.

Vanguard recalls that a months toddler crawled out of the scene of a fatal accident around Government House axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in an accident that claimed the life of a middle aged woman and left six others injured before Government House Awka, Anambra state.
The accident which took place at about 5.30 pm Friday involved a commercial bus plying Perm Site route in Awka with registration number Awk 166 XX and a Toyota Camry car with registration number, FGG 28 LN.

Eye witness who did not want to be mentioned said they were surprised to see the baby crawling amidst tears while the nursing mother was unconscious but blamed the Government House commercial Bus for the accident. He said the Toyota Camry had slammed into the bus, causing it to somersault into a nearby gutter.

Confirming the incident, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Anambra State, Mr Sunday Ajayi said three of the injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital in Awka while three others in very critical condition were conveyed via an FRSC ambulance to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.

He identified wrongful overtaking and over speeding as the major causes of the accident and appealed to motorists to exercise caution when plying on the state roads, emphasizing the need to place safety first above every other consideration.
