www.odogwublog.com reports that there is fragile peace in Umudagu Mbieri in Mbaitoli local government area as one Ifeanyi Ibeawuchi allegedly kidnapped and murdered his 22 years old cousin, Ifeanyi Ogu over his missing laptop.

Trouble started last Sunday when Ifeanyi Ibeawuchi accosted his cousin, Ifeanyi Ogu over the whereabouts of his laptop, which the deceased was said to have denied any knowledge of the supposed laptop.

Not satisfied with the response, Ibeawuchi stormed out only to return with three armed men which people thought were security operatives, they dragged Ogu with them for alleged questioning at the Police station.

"None of the three men had any security insignia but because they bore arms, we believed they were real", Uchechukwu explained.

Ogu's elder brother, Uchechukwu Ogu, told odogwublog.com that his enquiries at the police station proved abortive as the Police denied knowledge of any Ifeanyi Ogu under their custody.

Uchechukwu Ogu said "every effort I have made to establish contact with the suspect has proved abortive because he has refused to answer his telephone calls even after we discovered my brother's corpse", he lamented.

Further, he said "after it became obvious that my brother was not in police custody, we started going about to morgues and hospitals to look for him, because Ifeanyi Ibeawuchi refused to take his calls. Eventually, and regrettably we found my younger brother's corpse at Umuguma General Hospital Morgue .We were told that my cousin ,Ifeanyi Ibeawuchi brought his corpse".

When  visited the scene yesterday, officers of the Nigerian Police Force; Governor Rochas Okorocha's Special Adviser on Security, Olu Chizoba; as well as the Transition Committee Chairman of Mbaitoli local government, Collins Ugorji were all on ground to assess the extent of damage and stop further destruction of properties.

The late Ifeanyi Ogu's father, Mr Nathan Ogu in between sobs demanded for justice saying "those who murdered my 22-year-old son should not be allowed to walk the streets as free men. They should be made to face the full wrath of the law".

Meanwhile, sources said the parents of the suspect have gone into hiding because the youths of the community threatened fire and more destruction.

Confirming the development, Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem confirmed the incident and assured that normalcy has been restored in the community.

He disclosed that a thorough investigation has commenced, adding that the fleeing suspect will be nabbed.
