BISHOP IKEAKOR CALLS FOR NATIONAL REPENTANCE

www.odogwublog.com reports that the government and people of Nigeria have been called upon to go back to God in repentance so that the nation may be healed.
This call was made by His Lordship, The Rt. Rev’d. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi.  Bishop Ikeakor  made this call shortly after participating at the service of the Seven words of Christ on the cross at the Cathedral Church of St. Andrew, Amichi.
Addressing the press shortly after the service, Bishop Ikeakor said that in commemorating the Good Friday, Nigerians should know that Nigeria’s problems are manmade. According to Bishop Ikeakor, the problems have persisted because our nation has rejected the prince of peace.
He called on Nigerians to use the Good Friday as a period of sober reflection, meditation and repentance. Dwelling on the significance of Good Friday, Bishop Ikeakor said that the day Jesus Christ was crucified is regarded as Good Friday because what the law and the prophets could not do, the  death of Jesus did for humanity on the Cross of Calvary.
Earlier in his reflection on the seventh word of Jesus Christ on the Cross, Bishop Ikeakor noted that Jesus commended his soul to God at death because that is the only place it would be secure. He challenged Christians to give priority to the immortal soul instead of spending all the time and resources on the flesh that will rot away at death.
He regretted that people make all efforts to secure what they treasure in this life forgetting to secure the most precious possession of their life-the immortal soul. He warned that anywhere else people commit their life outside God will be a wasted effort.
The service attracted a large number of worshippers to the Cathedral to identify with the sufferings of Christ.
