Obiano set to employ workers for Anambra Fire Service as Fire Boss Agbili begs Obiano to recruit staff ----30 fire out breaks recorded within 30 days

www.odogwublog.com reports that Anambra State Fire Service Director Engr Martin Onyedikachukwu Agbili (Agility) has appealed to Governor Willie Obiano to recruit more staff for the fire outfit to meet up its challenges.

This is even as he said that from December 15, 2017  to January 11 that the service had gotten 30 fire outbreak calls which was promptly attended to and major losses averted .

Agbili in an interview with newsmen said that the service has only 100 workers to fight fire outbreak in the state after retirement of most staffers in 2017 .

Agbili said that the service was in dare need of personnel and request that the State Government fulfills its promise of more recruitment to ensure the optimal services of the agency.

Agbili said that the service had received functional fire trucks and other basic fire fighting tools from the state government and that is being utilized based on their capacity.

According to him , the causes of fire outbreak in the state at the moment was basically caused by bush fire where people engages in bush burning and leaves the fire unattended.

He advised that residents should engage more on bush cutting than bush burning especially when they would not be able to attend to it while burning .

Agbili said that these dry period calls for serious care in use of home electrical appliances and watch on bush burners to curtail the level of fire out break as prevention was better than cure.

He said that though the service was under staff but the number of workers available was eligible to fight any fire out break in the whole state .

He urged the residents to inform the services immediately the fire incidents occurs anywhere  and assured that once they are not in dark of any fire out break actions would be taken.

Agbili said that functional fire stations are located in Awka Government House, Amawbia, Nkpor, Main market ,Ogidi, Ekwulobia,  Okpokpo and Nnewi .

while new ones had been built and would soon be equipped for public usage at Umunze,Agulu,Ihiala, Otuocha, amongst others.
