EROSION DISASTER!!! AS SEMA DOLES RELIEF SURVIVORS OF FLOOD, CLASHES IN GOMBE…

Christian Rowland writing for ODOGWU MEDIA.... The Gombe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said it has distributed relief materials to 1,077 households affected by flood disaster and some victims of communal clash that occurred in Billiri LGA of the state.

SEMA’s Acting Head of Rescue and Rehabilitation, Malam Muhammad Garba, stated this at the flagoff of the distribution of the relief materials to 52 households from Gombe metropolis at the agency’s headquarters.

 He said the items will be distributed to victims of flood disaster whose houses and farm lands were destroyed by the flood between June and July in three LGAs of Billiri, Gombe and Yamaltu Deba.

 Garba said over 152 households people were affected from the Gombe metropolis, 435 households from Yamaltu Deba LGA and 400 victims in Kamo and Ayaba village of Billiri LGA.

 Some of the items to be distributed to the beneficiaries includes; 200 bags of rice, 137 bags of maize, 20 bags of millets, 65 jerry cans of palm oil, 130 pieces of wax and other household items.

 He added that the agency will also distributes the relief materials to the victims of a communal clash in Kufayi village of Billiri LGA of the state.

 The SEMA’s acting head of rescue and rehabilitation called on the people to desist from building houses or dumping refuse on drainages, which he attribute as the major cause of flooding during raining season.
