Ozubulu massacre: Youths want security beefed up

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Ozubulu Youths Association (OYA)yesterday said they will not take law into over the killing of their parents, brothers and sisters who died in the St Philips Catholic Church attack of worshipers on August 6, 2017, but are willing and ready to fully co-operate with the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime against their people.

Rising from an emergency meeting of its national executives Council of OYA, the youths urged the security agencies to carry out a thorough and holistic investigation into the massacre of their people at the Ofufe Amakwa Ozubulu Catholic Church.

They also pleaded with the Anambra State Government and the security agencies to beef up security in the entire state and its environs at least now that the governorship election is approaching, just as it called for the establishment of more police posts in the remote areas of Ozubulu town to beef up security.

This was contained in a statement the association issued after its meeting, signed Chief Emeka Anaekwe, National Chairman, and Comrade Val Iwuchukwu, National Secretary respectively a copy of which was made available to Authority.

According to the statement, we plead with the security agencies to kindly release all the innocent people mistakenly arrested in connection with that black Sunday incident at Ofufe Amakwa Ozubulu.

“We most sincerely commend the state and Federal government delegations that came to Ozubulu to sympathize with the entire people of our town and the Obi of Ozubulu, Obi Nnamdi Oruche, Ezeugodinobi, Okife II.”

The youth further stated that after the ugly incident which involved the unwarranted killing of innocent Christian worshipers and leaving other with injuries, during a church service, at St Philips Catholic Church Ofufe Amakwa Ozubulu on 6th August, 2017, we the youth of Ozubulu wish to set the records straight and state as follows:

“That Ozubulu town is a peaceful and loving town that welcomes indigenes and non-indigenes from various parts of our country Nigeria as brothers and sisters, that we totally condemn in its entirety the killing of those innocent worshipers in St Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu.

“We also want to make it clear that we are not killers, drug-peddlers or even kidnappers, but good and law abiding citizens of Nigeria, who does not and cannot take laws into their hands, and therefore, for justice so that the souls of the departed will rest in peace.
