Ndigbo should shun flamboyant burials ------Igboezue National Patron , Ezeemo

www.odogwublog.com reports that the National patron of Igboezue International,  Maazi Godwin Ezeemo, has asked Ndigbo to shun the practice of flamboyant burial ceremonies.
Ezeemo observed with dismay the practice of flamboyant burial celebration among Igbos saying that it is anti-Igbo, adding that the trend has led to a lot of problems among the middle class who make up the majority of the society.

He was speaking while receiving executive members of Igboezue International who paid him condolence visit at his hometown over the death of his father in law.

In his words, "A lot of businesses have been crippled as a result of this trend. It was not our culture ab initio but was adopted from Yoruba culture though we did not emulate it well."

He therefore charged the Igbo group to look into reforming this anomaly as well as others that are corroding the value system of Igbos as well as retarding her socio-economic development.

"I see Igboezue as machinery with which many abnormalities can be corrected in Igbo culture," he said.

Speaking, the national president of the group, Chief Pius Okoye said that it was pertinent that they paid the condolence visit given that he (Ezeemo) was the national patron of the group.

High point of the event was the presentation of a gold medal to Godwin Chukwunaenye Ezeemo in honour of all his efforts towards promoting the Igbo culture.
