FOU zone c impound 575 bags of rice,exotic cars

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Federal Operating Unit (FOU) zone C of the Nigeria custom has impounded a total of 575 bags of rice from three different agents smuggled into the country along Benin/Ore road.

Its area Comptroller, B A Amajam disclosed this to journalists during a press conference in Owerri on Wednesday. According to him,one of the seizure is a trailer load belonging to Dangote company containing 460 bags of of rice with DPV N11,776,000.

Among the seizures are 3 exotic cars,a Bentley Continental coupe,a Mercedes Benz,GRK 2011 model   with DPV N9,235,963 and a G wagon car .

Amajam also while conducting journalists round the seizures also disclosed that a 20 feet container loaded with foreign toilet soap was concealed with used automobile spare parts as well as 323 fairly used tyres with DPV N3,100,800.

Amajam revealed that all seizures where made through information from concerned citizens in the country . He further appealed for more of such collaboration noting that the seizures were meant to encourage patronage of local industries in the country.

He said "we appreciate information from people it has really helped us a lot,we were able to impound the truck loaded with soap but concealed with tyres ,you can believe three hours after removing our information patrol base in the morning and in the afternoon,we caught the smuggler with the toilet soap"

He continued,' the implication of allowing those smugglers who smuggled such as the foreign rice and the soap would cause high purchase of the commodity in the market"
