Executives and elders of the proposed village, under aegis of Umueke Progressive Union (UPU) in a statement, signed by Revd. Ndubuisi Elijah (chairman); and Comr. Okoronkwo, the group from Obi Mbieri community, insisted on the choice of Umueke as ancestral name of the proposed village.
This is even as the executives of the proposed village urged the Okwuruzo people, who hail from Umudurueze kindred to opt for fresh proposal for their village,outside Umueke as earlier endorsed by the Obi-Mbieri Village Creation Committee in 2011.
The Umueke leaders had in a recent statement maintained the proposed village is peopled by law-abiding citizens, even as they appealed to the state to caution agitators for the purported Eke-Okwuruzo, led by one Prince Ugonna Achuko.
According to the leaders of the proposed Umueke village, they are not aware of any change in the choice of ancestral name of the proposed village, adding that when in 2011, the name "Okwuruzo" was suggested by members of Achuko family, it was overwhelmingly rejected by over 80 percent of Umueke people.

Chairman of the proposed Eke-Okwuruzo village, Prince Achuko, explained that trouble started in the choice of name for almagamated Umueke/Okwuruzo village.
According to him, the traditional ruler, Eze Osuji has approved Eke-Okwuruzo, which is a combination of the ancestral paternal and maternal names of the peoples lineage.
