Aggrieved Enugu APC members suspend State Chairman,Ben Nwoye.

www.odogwublog.com reports that the internal crisis rocking the Enugu state chapter of  All Progressives Congress[APC], yesterday took a crucial dimension, as some aggrieved members of the party in the state convened an emergent congress,during which they resolved to suspend the state chairman of the party,Dr Ben Nwoye, over allegations of financial recklessness and anti party activities. But when contacted,Dr Nwoye said he is still in control and described his purported suspension as a joke.

The members who gathered at the State Secretariat of the party,located at Chief Jim Nwobodo avenue,.G.R.A, also resolved that the state Deputy chairman of the party, Comrade A.C.Ude should assume the leadership of the party on acting capacity,pending when the panel to be set up by the National Working Committee[NWC] of the party, concludes investigation on the misdeeds of Dr Ben Nwoye.

The  motion for the suspension of Dr Ben Nwoye as Enugu state chairman of APC was moved by the State APC Youth leader of the party,Prince Ikechukwu Oloto and seconded by the State Woman leader,Lolo Queen Nwankwo.The motion when put to voice vote received a loud 'Yes' support from members who attended the congress.

Their 15 point accusation of misconduct leveled against Dr Ben Nwoye upon which they moved for his suspension as read out by the Deputy State chairman,Comrade Ude,who thereafter was elevated to the position of acting state chairman of the party in Enugu state included,
'That the state chairman[Ben Nwoye] along with some stakeholders diverted money sent to Enugu state for the Presidential and National Assembly election for his personal purposes'

'That Dr Ben Nwoye runs the administration of the party as a one man show and authoritative in nature with intimidating tendencies,by using the SSS and thugs that he brings to the state working committee and state executive meetings to intimidate members of the party'.

'That record shows that the state chairman signed twenty two cheques without the approval of the state working committee. He as well uses assistant officers of the party in acting capacity to perpetuate his fraudulent activities'.

'That the state chairman arrogated to himself the duties and functions of state financial secretary, treasurer and auditor,publicity secretary and secretary respectively'.


'That the state chairman has been involved in anti party activities undermining the interest and growth of our party'

'That the state chairman attends PDP functions where the current governor was adopted with some serving National and state legislators for another term'

Reacting to his suspension by the group in a Telephone chat with 'The Authority', Dr Ben Nwoye described the  suspension order on him as an exercise in futility. He argued that the way and manner the group conducted his purported suspension contravened 'Article 21 of the APC constitution,which delves on setting up of a committee on such matters.

He affirmed that he is still in firm control and will be holding a state function of the party at the state secretariat of the party today,Tuesday,July 4. Dr Nwoye insisted that there is no crisis within the state wing of APC under his leadership, that the intra party squabbles are all parts and parcel of the Democratic process, being put into practice.However,he said that his alleged suspension by the group was sponsored by Hon. Val Nnadozie, the 2011 ACN governorship candidate in state.
