Nnewi, Umunachi celebrate Obiano as he inspects road construction

NNEWI, UMUNACHI AGOG AS OBIANO INSPECTS ROAD UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Residents of Otolo  Nnewi  community in Nnewi North Local Government Area , and Umunachi community, Dunukofia L.G.A. both in Anambra State came out en masse to drum support for the present administrative recently as Governor Obiano came to inspect the ongoing construction works at the 4.3km road of St Thomas Church- Igwe Orizu Junction – Egbu Umuenem – Otolo Nnewi – Awka Etiti road and the 4.2km Ozzu-Umunachi road.
At Nnewi,Governor Obiano said he was satisfied with the quality of work after inspecting the 1.5km of the road already asphalted from drainage to drainage saying that the contractor has promised to speed up the pace of work.
“Having inspected the 4.3km road that we awarded a few months back, the contractor has completed and asphalted drainage to drainage 1.5km and he has reassured me that before the end of this month an additional 1.2km drainage to drainage will be completed. We have been mobilizing them; we are here to make sure everything is done according to specification and on time.
If you look at the quality of the drainage and the rest you will see the contractor is doing a good work. I am satisfied but, I want them to increase on the pace of work”, said Obiano.
He further revealed that the road was just one of the seven road undergoing construction within the Nnewi Metropolis.
“This road here is one out of the 7 roads within the four communities that make up Nnewi which is undergoing construction in my administration, totaling them to 21km.This is apart from the street light we are putting for Nnewi people and the 20 million community development project that you are also handling” , Obiano revealed.
The governor also told them to come back for the disbursement of the 2nd phase of the 20million community development project as soon as they finish their first
“I am waiting for the Ndi Nnewi to come and collect another 20million naira community development fund if you finish your first project. I am also waiting for the markets to come and collect the 10million naira for market project development if you have chosen your project. So the markets should meet the criteria so that we can quickly give them their project fund,” said Obiano.
Obiano told them to support his administration and 2nd term because they are doing their best for them despite the economic recession , adding that , Ndi – Nnewi who intended to engage on agricultural produce exportation should come forward since the person in charge of agriculture was from Nnewi.
The site Engineer, Saro Granti Korde called on the people of Nnewi to ensure Governor Obiano returns for a second term in office saying that his company will continue giving quality work and would complete another  1km in a month’s time.
In a related development, Governor Obiano also inspected the 4.2km road undergoing construction at Ozzu- Umunachi road in Dunukofia  Local Government Area.
“I just want to observe the constructions of the major flood outlets.  I will use this area as a catchment area of flood for many communities in this area. We shall channel the floods to the nearest river. This will permanently solve flood challenges in Ozzu Umunachi. We have asphalted 50 percent of the 4.2km of this road drainage to drainage”, Obiano said.
Governor Obiano said that the flood channel contract came up when the contractor  faced a major challenge during the road construction. He said he had to tackle the flood channels and catchment to ensure a solid work was done in the place.
 In her vote of thanks the commissioner for social welfare, children and women  affairs. Dr.Mrs Victor Chikwelu eulogized the Governor for remembering her community in such a time.
