Nigerian Judiciary Remains one of the Best – Obi

www.odogwublog.com reports that the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi  has commended the Nigerian Judiciary for being among the best in the world. Obi was speaking yesterday during the public presentation of the book entitled: “Save our Constitutional Democracy from Emasculation”, written by Prof. Ben Nwabueze at the Shuhu Musa  Yar’Adua Conference Centre, Abuja yesterday.

Obi who recalled how he came became Governor in Anambra state through the courts, came back from impeachment, as well as secured the tenure interpretation that led to the staggering of elections in the country, said that those interventions renewed his faith in the judiciary in Nigeria, especially when, between him and his God, he knew he did not know the Judges before any of the cases that involved him to secure victories.  “Indeed”, he said,” the judiciary remains the last hope for the common man”

Ob commended  Prof. Ben Nwabuze for his contributions towards the growth of Nigeria as a member of many constitution drafting committees; a former Minister of Education; an University don; membership of many respected social cultural groups; and, most importantly, Obi said, his contributions towards the demolition of the empire of ignorance through books that are intellectually stimulating.

The Chairman of the event and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara said that there were many things about Prof.  Nwabuze that were worthy of emulation. He noted that even in his old age he was still consumed by what was good for Nigeria as shown by his most recent book.
In his own response, Prof Nwabueze thanked all those that graced the occasion. He urged Nigerians to always have the progress and development of Nigeria at heart.

He took the opportunity to thank Nigerians for their love and concern for him and particularly thanked former Governor Peter Obi for finding out time to visit him now and then in his house.
Many dignitaries attended the event such as the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu; Deputy Senate President, Hon. Ike Ekweremadu, represented by Sen. Obi:  Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, among others.
