Governor Okezie Ikpeazu demolishes kidnappers' houses, shops

 www.odogwublog.com reports that Abia State Government weekend  demolished two houses belonging to notorious kidnappers in the state in furtherance with the ongoing crackdown against heinous crime in the state.

The suspects -  Chinenye Israel, and Chigozie Israel, twins from Umuerim Nsirimo in Umuahia South Local Government Area - were said to have been behind some high profile kidnappings in the state.

Other belongings of the suspects  valued at thousands of naira  including a shop of one of the wives of the kidnappers were also demolished by the state government.


Demolished also was a drinking joint at Ndume Otuka  where the kidnappers and their gang members used as rendezvous.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Captain  Awa Udonsi Agwu
said the demolition was in line with the laws of the state which prohibits kidnapping.

Agwu said the buildings were pulled down because they served as a den  for criminals.

He explained that it is now a law in the  state that any location owned by kidnappers or where they use for their activities or meeting point will be demolished.

The Security Adviser advised youths to take their studies seriously and shun the temptation of getting rich at all cost.

He thanked members of the public for volunteering useful information about the whereabouts of criminals in the state, saying that the state's promise to reward whistle blowers on criminals is still in place.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of Umuahia South LGA, Chief Obioma Ogbulafor, said the action was a clear signal to criminal elements in the state that their days were numbered.

He said government would not allow any part of the LGA to be used as a hideout for criminals.

Adding his voice, the youth leader and Chairman of the vigilante group of Umuerim community thanked the state government for its hard position against crime, saying that the demolition would serve as deterrent to other youths who may be nursing similar intention.
