Land mark of history was created in Ora-Eri community, Aguata L.G.A of Anambra State,when the President of Cyprian Abanofor Foundation,Chief Cyprian Abanofor Ume Orimiri awarded full scholarship to 36 under 13 foot ballers from the primary schools in Ora-Eri recently. Chief Cyprian Abanofor is a house hold name in Orai-Eri, sound philanthropist, a patriot,a pace setter whose contributions to development of Ora-Eri Community and environs can be described  as immense .
    The foundation was reckoned for their annual league matche competitions held on every Christmas /New year for selective Youths Representing their respective Villages. The competition had always created awareness for relaxation, interaction and sense of belonging to the teaming spectators and encouragement to the players, both winners and looser respectively .
    This time he has taken a new dimension . The maiden under 13 foot Ball competition which started recently between Central School and St. Mary’s Primary School Ora-Eri was aimed towards improvement of soccer in the town and engender in the young children, the spirit of sportsmanship and academic pursuit early in life .
    The final match competition was kick started by the Parish  Priests St. Mary’s Catholic Parish  OraEri, Reverend  Father Andrew Nwakelu. Addressing the players, he urged them to play friendly match and avoid do or die affairs during the competition. He recalled that in every competition there must be a winner and a looser and urged them to maintain discipline and regard the match as awareness to improve their skills .In the first half of the game,it was very though. The goal keeper of the Central School OraEri saved the situation and collected the wonderful shot from the opponent .There were no scores from each side and were awarded penalty kicks.In the first five chances they scored 4-4 draw. They were given chance to play once each. Then the Central School lost 1 goal. 
    St. Mary’s Primary School Ora-Eri ; then qualified as the winner. In his remark Chief Abanofor while  presenting the trophy said that the under 13 game will be an annual event. He disclosed that the competition in subsequent years will include more primary schools in the area and urged the school management to commence training of their pupils. Chief Abanofor urged the pupils from Central School OraEri who were defeated in the match competition to accept the defeat in good faith and commended them for their tireless efforts.
    He emphasized that to win in any competition was based in luck and urged them to strive to win in future. Chief Abanofor recalled that the foundation which was established to assist the less privilege in Ora-Eri awarded the scholarship to the under 13 players to encourage them in their academic pursuit. He emphasized that Education is the barometer and foundation of all human endeavour This is because an educated and discipline someone can excel more than illiterate ones .
    He reaffirmed his preparedness to alleviate the burdens of the community and  to extend his programmes to local government levels. Chief Abanofor urged them to be steadfast in their academic pursuit and also participate in games which is secondary. He expressed appreciation to God for grating us such wonderful day  and there were no casualties throughout the period of the match .Chief Abanofor paid growing tribute to the parish priest, games masters of the schools for preparing the pupils  for the encounter, the organizers of the competition for their joint efforts towards realizing the objectives.

    In his remark Chief Ezedozie, former  General  Chairman of Ora-Eri Development Union emphasized that the community will continue to give Chief Abanofor the morale support which he needs to move his soccer and other sports enthusiasm forward. Chief Eze Ediozie prayed God to continue to replenish him abundantly. In Their respective remarks the head Teachers of St. Mary’s Nursery & Primary school Ora-Eri and Central School Ora-Eri extolled Chief Abanafor for his giant stride and described the event as very impressive and first of its kind in the town.

    Briefing Journalists Mr Alexander Onyekwelu Patron (O F A ) Ora-Eri Foot Ball Association commended Chief Abanafor  (Ume Orimiri) for his remarkable roles towards youths development in the community and urged other affluent Citizens in the town and environment to emulate his laudable examples.

    Mr Ifeanyi Ezenzowu member OFA Organizing Committee also described Chief Abanfor as noble gift from God to Ora-Eri and urged him to maintain his tempo. Highlights of the occasion were presentation of Trophy to the winner and consolation prices to distinguished participants. Award of schoolarship to 36 players both winners and losers alike.
