Police arrest suspects who killed Sergeant Helen Sunday, Enugu Deputy Governor's orderly

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Enugu state police command said it has arrested two prime suspects of an armed robbery gang that killed a police woman,  Sergeant Helen Sunday,who was an orderly to the Enugu state Deputy Governor, Hon Mrs Cecelia Ezeilo,  on Tuesday, May 9, as she was shot by hoodlums at about  ten O'clock in the night.

A press statement issued to newsmen in  Enugu by the  state police public relations officer [PPRO], Mr Ebere Amaraizu,gave the names of the two suspects as Emmanuel Onyeabor and Mr Kanu Oti.

Amaraizu disclosed they were arrested  by the operatives of the Anti Kidnap squad of the state police command in their various hides out at 'Lomalinda estate,Independence layout Enugu and at Amorji Nike axis of Abakpa, in Enugu East local government area of the state.


The Enugu state police image maker stressed the suspects sustained  fatal injuries during a gun duel with the police,while other members of their gang with minor injuries escaped when the police launched an attack at their hideout.

He said the command has embarked on manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang and urged members of the public and hospital operators to report any body they found with wounds suspected to be bullet shots to the police, for investigation.

According to Amaraizu, the two suspects,Emmanuel Onyeabor and Kanu Oti confessed to the police that their mission was only to rob the late Sergeant Helen Sunday and did not mean to kill her, but it was aftermath of her tough resistant that one of them shot her on the head at close range. He said the suspects are regretting their action.

Among the items recovered from the suspects after the gun duel at their hideouts was an infinix phone of the late Enugu Deputy governor's aide, Amaraizu said.
