Obiano Seeks N50Bn Refund From FG

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Federal Government may have concluded to refund Anambra state Government led by Governor Willie Obiano the monies spent on Federal roads.
A delegation from the Ministry of Budget and National Planning yesterday arrived the State to monitor various federal government projects in the State.

Receiving the team, Governor Willie Obiano urged the federal government to pay up about fifty billion naira (N50 Billion) it owes the State government.
Obiano whose Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, spoke on his behalf described the visit as timely and stressed that paying up the money owed, will help State government expedite actions on its projects at hand.
The Governor commended the initiative where different organs of government monitor projects to ensure strict compliance to standards and specifications, as well as judicious use of disbursed funds, calling on them to help ensure that work begins on the Amansea to Onitsha portion of the expressway.
The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma, represented by a Director in the Ministry, Dr Ann Nzegwu noted that they are part of the South East team, touring the Country for oversight functions, as they have slated to visit eleven projects sited in the State.
Counting the projects to include Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Metrological Institute, Umuoji Erosion Project, federal government’s One Thousand Housing Project, as well as various vocational centers, Senator Udo Udoma said that the move is meant to make physical verification of such projects, expressing optimism that it will go a long way in curbing attendant irregularities.
The team is expected to stay in the State for three days, before moving to Imo State.
