Minority Leader of the old Anambra state house of assembly in the second republic,Hon [Sir] Petrus Agballah has passed on, after a
protracted illness.
A statement signed by his son,Barrister Ugochukwu
Agballah, a former commissioner for works in Enugu state during the
first tenure of ex Governor Chimaroke Nnamani and APGA governorship
candidate in the 2003 Enugu state governorship election, said the late
Agballah died on March 24,at the ripe age of 90 .
A statement signed by the son of the deceased and former Commissioner
for Works and governorship aspirant in Enugu State, Barr. Ugochukwu
Agballah, noted that Pa Agballah passed on at the age of 90 on March
24, 2017 after a protracted illness.
According
the press statement, a valedictory session will be held on behalf of
late Pa Agballah at Enugu state house of assembly on Thursday,May 11,
while the funeral service will take place at St Mary's Pro
Cathedral,Udi, on Friday,May 12, and thereafter final interment at his
country home,Nkolo Abalagu,Amagu village,Udi.
The
late Agballah who also was Deputy state chairman of the defunct
National Party of Nigeria[NPN],old Anambra state , also during his
lifetime was a Fellow of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales, was the first
Chartered Accountant of Igbo extraction to start practice in then
Eastern Region with offices at Enugu, Onitsha, Owerri, Calabar, Port
Harcourt and Aba.
He was one of the pioneer indigent citizens of Enugu state that championed and lobbied for the creation of WAWA
State which eventually led to creation of Enugu in 1991 and Ebonyi
state in 1996. .
He was also a founding board member of defunct Orient Bank, Palm Beach
Insurance, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) among
others.
