200 students to benefit from Fidelity bank’s empowerment programme

www.odogwublog.com reports that Fidelity bank plc, in partnership with the Gazzelle business Solutions limited and Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra state will on May 15, start training of about 200 students of the Polytechnic Oko under the bank’s youth empowerment Academy as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The five days skill acquisition programme, which is the third in the bank’s series, will see students trained on Avante garde gele, fashion designing, bead making, cocktail, mobile photography and fruit fountain.
Participants at the end of the training will  go home with mini sewing machines, make up brush kits, pressing irons and certificates of participation by the training academy while the hosting institution, Federal Polytechnic Oko, will be provided with machines to enhance their entrepreneurial department.
Briefing newsmen in Awka, Anambra state, the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Plc, Nnamdi Okonkwo represented by the Regional General Manager of the bank in Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi, Sir Leonard Ezeugwu said the five day programme was designed to educate the youths on skills that will make them acquire necessary skill and become self reliance.
He further explained that the bank’s initiative, which, according to him, is in line with the goals of Federal Government on youth empowerment and skill acquisition was designed to educate, engage and empower undergraduates in Nigeria tertiary institutions.
Okonkwo also informed that the programme was aimed at creating entrepreneurs, reduce unemployment, eradicate extreme poverty and financial dependence of Nigerian youth, adding that the first and second edition of the programme was at the University of Nigeria Nsukka in Enugu state and Waziri Umana Federal Polytechnic, Bernin-Kebbi in Kebbi state.
The Deputy Rector Academic, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Mrs. Gladys Anene, however, thanked the Fidelity Bank and their partners, Gazzelle Business Solutions Limited for their choice of the undergraduates of the institution as beneficiaries of the initiative, even as she described the training as timely, especially in this period of recession.
Others present at the briefing include the MD/CEO, Gazzelle Business Solutions Ltd, Mr. Onuzo Muna, Head, Cooperate Social Responsibility and sustainability, Fidelity Bank, Plc, Mr. Chris Nnakwe, Branch Leader, Awka Fidelity Bank, Mr. Tochukwu Nnadi among others.
