Tragedy in Mgbakwu as Mr Ifeyinwa Obalum, 40, butchered by Nwabueze Oraekwulu as mob kills Nwabueze, sets his house ablaze

www.odogwublog.com reports that double tragedy, in the early hours of today, struck in Amaezike village, Mgbakwu in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State as a 40-year-old woman, Mr Ifeyinwa Obalum, was butchered to death allegedly by a young man, 38, said to be insane.
According to eyewitness, the suspect whose name was given as Nwabueze Oraekwulu, waylaid the deceased on her way to the market on her motorcycle and descend on her with his sharp cutlass.
But angered by the tragic incidence, a mob descended on the suspect and hacked him to death. They also set his house ablaze.
www.odogwublog.com gathered that the suspected killer, also known as Eze-Amosu (Chief Wizard), had been behaving funny since he returned from abroad few years ago. He was said to be threatening the peace and security of the area which the residents said they brushed aside as unserious tantrums.
“One several occasions, we had seen him with machete. Just this morning, he waylaid a woman, Ifeyinwa Obalum, who caters to her 80-year-old blind husband and butchered her to death” said an indigene of Amaezike village, Mr Nduka Nzekwe.
He added that “This is very serious because the first son of the deceased who is supposed to be active in the family is an imbecile.”
He narrated that the woman ferments and sells pap from which proceeds she catered to the needs of her family.
Another sympathiser and youth leader, Mr Christian Chukwuma recalled that such incident had happened in the community few months ago and called on the government to come to their aid by assisting the people to tame such insane persons.
“It was very shocking to me when I heard the sad news. Sometime ago it happened at Amaezike village. A woman invaded another woman’s house and butchered her to death” he said.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Nkeiruka Nwode, confirmed the incident. She however regretted that they residents had taken the law into their own hands before the arrival of the police. She said that the police took the bodies of the deceased and deposited same into a morgue in Isuaniocha community; adding that investigations were ongoing.
