Contraband: CD lauds Zone C. Customs for caging smugglers

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Campaign for Democracy, CD has given a pat on the back of officers and men of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Zone C. Headquarters, Owerri, Imo state for their efforts so far in checkmating the influx of smuggled goods and other criminal activities going on in the zone.

CD specifically lauded the Assistant Comptroller-General, ACG of Customs in-charge of the zone, Alhaji Mohammed Uba Garba and his team for the seizure of contraband and smuggled goods worth over N2 billion so far within this year.

In a press statement issued yesterday in Onitsha, Anambra state, the National Publicity Secretary of CD, Dede Uzor A. Uzor said he was particularly impressed with the manner with which the zone had achieved the feat in the zone, with particular emphasis on the recent high powered task force set up by Garba himself, led by one Chief Superintendent of Customs, CSC, Mr. Jack who he said had made a concerted efforts in reducing the influx of contraband goods within the zone.

According to Uzor, "CD is very grateful to Garba for maintaining peace and harmony among his officers and men and at the same time ensured that they did not record any casualty or injury arising from violent actions or shootout between his men and the smugglers, as obtainable in other zones".

"With the seizure of goods totaling N2 billion so far, we are convinced that the Garba-led FOU, Zone C has recorded the highest achievements so far among his contemporaries in other zones in the country", Uzor further stated.
