Abia Governor Ikpeazu announces N1m reward to whistle blowers on criminality

www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has announced a cash reward of N1 million to any informant who volunteers useful information that lead to the arrest of heinous criminals in the state.

Ikpeazu who disclosed this yesterday in Umuahia said it s part of the renewed efforts of the state to curb the rising crime wave in the state.

He also announced a cash reward of N1 million to the team of security operatives that conducts a successful operation that results in the apprehension of notorious criminals in the state.

Ikpeazu said information desk would be set up at the Government House where the identity of all informers would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

The Governor expressed sadness at the resurgence of kidnapping and violent crime in parts of the state in the recent times, and vowed to stop at nothing in bringing the situation under control.

He said that arrangements had been concluded to re-launch " Operation Jubilee" in the state with additional 300 armed and heavily equipped police personnel to frontally combat crime.

On the public outcry over the uncivilised activities of touts who molest motorists and hapless citizens under the guise of revenue drive, Ikpeazu vowed to deal with the perpetrators.

He announced the setting up of a panel headed by the Commissioner of Police to investigate the barbaric activities of the touts which led to a motor accident recently in Aba. 

Other members of the panel which has seven days to turn in its report, include the state Director of The Department of Security Services ( DSS), the Attorney General of the State and a traditional ruler, HRH Eze Love Nwogu.

" The individuals involved in this embarrassment will be brought to book", Ikpeazu vowed", threatening to review the use of contractors in collecting " flying revenues"  for the state government if the contractors continue to use touts to unleash torture on the people.
