Youth Council election: NYCN apologizes to Anambra sports Commissioner, Dr Uju Nwogu

www.odogwublog.com reports that stakeholders in the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, weekend apologized to the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the state, Dr Uju Nwogu, for all allegations being spread in the social media by some faceless persons against her.

Odogwublog.com notes that the social media was awash with funny allegations that some powerful persons who want to hijack the upcoming congress of the NYCN in the state slated for 21st March for selfish ends, were asking her to name her offer but that has been faulted by the youths themselves.

The stakeholders however said that available record shows that the commissioner has the interests of Anambra youths at heart and would not turn around to destroy a legacy she had built so far.

The NYCN expressed this during an emergency meeting convened by the commissioner to look into the crisis in National Youth Council.  She said that the government has no interest in the upcoming congress and would not tolerate the balkanization of the umbrella youth body.

“All we want is a united youth body. We do not intend to interfere with the activities of the NYCN as it is an independent body but we can supervise her” she added.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of the youth council, Comrade Frank Maduka, said that the election slated for March 21, 2017 would hold. He pointed out that “the election must be free, fair and transparent.” They later passed a vote of confidence on her.

The Secretary, Election Committee, Hon. Ejiofor Egwuatu, said that every measure has been put in place for a smooth conduct of the election.
