UNIZIK rolls out awards to 70 outstanding students

www.odogwublog.com reports that Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Tuesday, gave awards to seventy students from seventy departments in the fourteen faculties in the institution, who emerged best graduating students from their various departments.
The institution also honoured fourteen students who emerged overall best students from their faculties, as well as the overall best graduating student from the university for the 2015/2016 set. The Award Giving ceremony was part of activities lined up for the 11th convocation ceremony of the university, which runs between Monday, March 13 and Friday, March 17, 2017.
Master Ikenna Henry Uzofor, from the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, emerged the best graduating student for the 2015/2016 set of graduands. He graduated with CGPA 4.85.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, in his short remark during the ceremony, said the event was the first of its kind in the university, adding that it was instituted to encourage students of the institution to work hard, adding that “For the best graduating students from different faculties, after their NYSC, will be employed by the university. This is how to encourage them and to make others to work harder”.
Ikenna Henry Uzofor, the best graduating student of the university, who spoke for and on behalf of others, thanked the University for organizing the award ceremony, adding that their giant strides and successes would be ascribed to the efforts of their parents and lecturers.
