Governorship: UPP vows to unseat Obiano

www.odogwublog.com reports that the United Peoples’ Party (UPP) has said it was determined to ensure that it emerged victorious in the Nov.18 governorship election in Anambra.
Mr Uche Amaku, Publicity Secretary of the party in Anambra disclosed this while speaking with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ, Anambra council in Awka on Monday.
Amaku said the party was determined to take over the state because the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) had derailed and was not delivery democratic goods to the people.
He said the party was setting up structures in the 326 election wards in the state to ensure that its presence permeated every community and cranny of the state.
“A lot of people have also been wondering what the UPP wants tp achieve that APGA could not. It is true that UPP and APGA were founded by the same persone, Chief Chekwas Okorie.
“After 15 years of APGA’s existence and 11 years in power in Anambra, it has become obvious that the party has lost its bearing and focus.
“It has failed to serve as a platform for all marginalised person in Nigeria especially Ndi-Igbo to participate fully in the country’s democratic system,” he said.
The Publicity Secretary said the soul of APGA had gone with its founder, Okorie who was eased out by a few members who frustrated him and hijacked.
He said UPP was the only party in Nigeria that addressed crucial national matters which bordered on welfare of masses in its constitution.
“APGA became the political instrument of a few individuals and failed its intended purpose of mainstreaming the collective aspirations of Ndi-Igbo.
“We are a party with bold statement on restructuring, self determination, fiscal federalism among others, it is clear that we now have fresh opportunity to play together in the Nigerian project,” he said.
In his response, the chairman of the Chapel, Mr Emmanuel Ndukuba said the members where a mission of state building in Anambra.
Ndukuba promised that the chapel will give opportunity all political party and their spirants to tell the people what they have in store for them.
He also called for politics of peace, love and mutual respect on the part of the political class in the state.
