Jubilation in APGA as Buhari’s former aide Uche Ezechukwu joins APGA in Anambra, Ezeibenne donates 40 vehicles for Obiano's campaign
www.odogwublog.com reports that the Director of Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu
Buhari during his presidential electioneering campaign in 2003, Chief Uche
Ezechukwu, Saturday joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in
Anambra State amidst pomp and pageantry.
Chief Ezechukwu who is also the Chairman of Editorial Board
of Authority Newspaper had served Gen. Sani Abacha as a media adviser while he
was the military Head of State.
His entry into APGA was witnessed by a mammoth crowed of
APGA stakeholders and members who were holding their ward
meeting/reconciliation meeting of all factions at Barrister Ikenna Ezeibenne
residence, Ubaha Amesi.
He lamented that Igbo people have been grossly marginalized.
He therefore asked Ndi-Igbo to forge a common front that would shoot them to
the centre.
Speaking shortly after he was registered in his country home
of Amesi ward in Aguata council area, Ezechukwu said he was motivated to join
APGA in other to assist in building a viable party for Ndi-Igbo which APGA
represents.
His words: “As it stands in Nigeria today, people from
different ethnic nationalities are going back to their cocoons. My philosophy
centres on Igbo that’s why I decided to join APGA to render service to
Ndi-Igbo. Our people are not getting a fair deal from Nigeria”.
www.odogwublog.com reports that this is coming as a chieftain of the party in Amesi, Barr
Ikenna Ezeibenne, disclosed that he had kicked off a re-election campaign for
Obiano under ‘’Hon Ezeibenne support group for Obiano 2017’’ with the branding
of 14 out of over 40 vehicles that would take the good message of the governor
to the doorsteps of Ndi Anambra.
Ezeibenne who hosted
the meeting where Ezechukwu was received said he, Ezechukwu, will be a big blessing to the
party.
He said his group will begin enlightenment and symposia from
this week to sensitize people of Obiano’s achievement, even as he will also
bring the youth together under the ‘back to farm initiative’ youth support
group he floated too.
Chief Ezechukwu while addressing the crowd said he has never
been in a political party though has been a facilitator of candidates, but now
he decided to take a stand, according to him,
because of the absurdity of many Igbo politicians who declare for All
Progressives Congress (APC) in order to protect their business or get some
other benefits.
He said: “all political parties pretend to be national
parties but when it comes to sharing of resources, everyone of them goes back
to its tribal base party”.
“Our people are not
getting their fare share because they are marginalized. What pained me most is
that Igbo people are going into APC because it is a party at the centre. I am
very close to Hausas but I will never serve them.
“I can’t serve scavengers the way we are doing it today.
Those who join APC do so to protect their business or gain something.
“I join APGA to offer services. I just want to be where our
people are”, he added.
He, however, expressed interest is getting APGA and United
Peoples Party (UPP) merge because, according to him, the problem is personality
clash.
The vice chairman, South, of
APGA Chief Titus Anigbogu who received Ezechukwu along the Publicity
Secretary of the party Hon. Chinedu Nkwonta with other party big wigs said
Ezechukwu was worth 10,000 persons and urged others in his calibre to join APGA
also.
Anigbogu said Nigeria stands on a tripod and each major
tribe is represented and if one is removed, the situation becomes lopsided
adding that any politician who loses his root is doomed and added APGA has
demonstrated a state can successfully stand on its own.
www.odogwublog.com reports further that the Chairman of APGA in Aguata council area, Mr Obiora
Ezechukwu who assisted the ward chairman and others in handing Ezechukwu APGA
party materials urged Ndi Anambra to re-elect Gov. Willie Obiano for a second
term to enable him consolidate on the gains the government of APGA has brought
to the state.
