Igwebuike Grammar School zone for indian Hemp smokig , other drugs, says OCHA Brigade

The Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, Ocha Brigade, has dismantled all illegal structures and shanties at the Igwebuike Grammar School axis of the Arthur Eze Avenue, in Awka.
The Agency during the operation uncovers an outlet for illicit drug peddling in one of the shops in the area.
The exercise which started from the Igwebuike Grammar School junction opposite the Awka City stadium, continued down the school perimeter fencing opposite Emmaus House, mostly occupied by welders, vulcanizers, scrape iron dealers, lubricant merchants, motor-cycle mechanics, furniture makers, plumbing materials sellers, fairly used clothes dealers, and bamboo sellers among others.
The dismantled structures were carted away in OCHA brigade vehicles.
A cellophane bag and wraps of cannabis sativa otherwise called Indian hemp, marijuana or Igbo in the local parlance were recovered in one of the shanties which has a notice of accommodation agent which possibly serve as a front to hide the illicit trade.
Speaking to journalists later, the Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, Chief Kenneth Okonkwo said, that series of warnings and written notices had been served to the illegal occupants for several months to vacate the area to no avail.
Chief Okonkwo said it is unacceptable that such structures and activities should be located in front of a school compound to deface the environment and recalled that part of the school perimeter fence had in several occasions been pulled down giving access to miscreants to invade the school and cart away valuables including computers.
According to Chief Okonkwo, the activities of the illegal occupants had equally posed serious threat to the life span of the tarred road, as they have converted part of it to dumping ground for all sorts of waste and liquid as well as use it as extension of their workshops.
He assured that the agency has enough manpower to patrol the area on daily basis to ensure that there is no further encroachment.
Chief Okonkwo called on the people to support efforts of Governor Willie Obiano to sanitize and promote a healthy environment.
