Anambra House tasks Obiano on road construction

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee has expressed happiness with the ongoing road construction in the three senatorial districts of the state.
They tasked Governor Willie Obiano to ensure the relevant ministry supervises the road projects to ensure they are executed according to specifications to avoid shoddy jobs.

The committee gave the charge while scrutinizing 2017 budget proposal of the Ministry of Road Construction, Road Furniture and Maintenance in Awka.
Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Ikechukwu Umeh at the budget interactive forum stressed the need for the ministry to ensure that construction firms handling road construction and rehabilitation in the state, use the best materials as it will enable the roads stand the test of time.

Dr. Umeh assured that the committee will always assist them in areas where they are facing challenges and called on builders to always abide by building code to forestall building collapse in the state.

On his part, the Commissioner for Road Construction, Road Furniture and Maintenance, Chief Law Chinwuba, told the committee that their budget proposal of twenty three point nine billion naira would be channeled to construction of roads that led to activity areas to enhance the state economic growth.

Chief Chinwuba also said that they would construct roads to hard to reach areas, particularly agrarian communities to guarantee easy evacuation of farm produce to urban areas.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Transport, has recommended that parks should be returned to the ministry of Road, Rail and Water Transportation.
The Committee which spoke through it’s Chairman, Mr. Edward Ibuzo, made the recommendation while scrutinizing the 2017 budget proposals of the ministry.
