Speed limiter: FRSC to commence enforcement on Feb.1 in Ebonyi

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC ) in Abakaliki on Monday advised vehicle operators in the state to install the speed-limiting devices in their vehicles, saying full enforcement would begin on Feb.1.
Mr Sunday Iyama, the Sector Commander of FRSC in Ebonyi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakiliki that it would also intensify patrols and enlightenment campaigns for motorists.
According to him, this is to ensure that there is sanity on the roads in the state.
Iyama cautioned motorists against violating other rules and regulations guiding road usage.
“The full enforcement of the installation of speed-limit devices will begin from Feb.1 this year.
“We will also intensify patrols and enlightenment for motorists to check overloading, speeding, drunk-driving and other safety violations.
“Commercial buses, school buses, articulated vehicles and many others will not be allowed to operate if they did not install the devices on their vehicles.
“When we see them on the road without showing us the devices, the state command of the FRSC will impound such vehicles and booked them appropriately, unless there is a counter directive from the FRSC headquarters.
“Private vehicle owners should also install the devices because they have to do with the safety of their lives, and not just the law,’’ he said.
The sector commander also advised officers and men of the corps to be civil, more dedicated and committed to their operations. (NAN)
