Enugu mosque burnt as Igbo, Fulani clash Leaving scores dead

About two persons have been reportedly lost their lives in a bloody clash between Igbo and Fulani at the popular Gariki Market, in Enugu on wednesday 29th December, 2016.

It was gathered that the clash erupted after a disagreement between one Ifeanyi who normally helps people to slaughter cows at the new artisan market and one Ali, who brought a cow to be slaughtered.

Quarrel ensued between them when Ali refused to pay to Ifeanyi the complete fee for slaughtering of cow at the market. This led to a fight and Ali allegedly brought out a dagger and stabbed Ifeanyi severally in the stomach, spilling his intestines.

Ali who killed Ifeanyi tried to escape the scene but was stopped and killed by Igbo traders around who also burnt down a mosque located inside the Gariki Market.

The crisis was controlled by the men of riot policemen who arrived the market soon.
