Osaze faces 7 match ban


Erstwhile super eagles striker, Osaze Odenwingie, remember him? he is in the news again, this time for the wrong reason. The Nigerian player who now plies his trade in the lower division of English football, where he represents Rotherham United.
Osaze was red-carded in the 1-2 derby loss against Leeds united. 
He received his marching order in the 29th minute after he elbowed Liam Cooper late in the first half of the encounter, making it his second club career red card. That was not all, the striker could miss 7 matches as a punishment for his action.
       It is expected that the English FA will review the incident and punish the 35-year-old,retrospectively, which could mean a straight three match ban for the red card and further three match ban for the clumsy elbow against his opponent. A suspended one match ban is also mooted for for Odenwingie , who has since posted an apology on social media during the course of the game, protesting his sending off. 
         In his post, he claimed the incident was an accident, saying footballers usually jump with their elbow raised, but video replay proved otherwise as Odenwingie showed no intention of winning the ball, instead went for the face of Cooper.
