CHELSEA CLOSE TO SIGNING JAMES RODRIGUEZ

Chelsea are set to go head  to head with Manchester United for the signing of unsettled Real Madrid midfielder, James Rodriguez, according to the Sunday Express. The 25-year-old has struggles to tie down a regular shirt at the Spanish club since the arrival of French man Zinedine Zidane last season.

Despite a number of injuries, the Colombian was still not considered on most occasions. Although the Colombian has stated last season that he was willing to stay at the club and fight for his place, he could be forced to change his mind if a good offer arrives from a good club who can assure him of regular playing time, of which Manchester united and Chelsea are willing to do.

The Colombian could decide to call time on his time at the Spanish side, and that has alerted Italian coach Antonio Conte who has now concluded plans to make a serious move for the play maker next summer. However, he must be willing to go toe to toe with premier league rivals Manchester united, with the Red Devils' coach Jose Mourinho having worked with the Colombian player previously during their time together at the Spanish club.
