Orji ancient tree destroys widow's house at Nteje Community

www.odogwublog.com reports that an ancient Orji tree has partially fallen and destroyed a house in Iruatu Amansea Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area.
A branch of the Orji tree fell and knocked down the house of a widow who is said to reside in the neighbouring Awkuzu town and only visits in the weekends but did not visit this weekend when the disaster occurred.
Many people were seen trooping in to commiserate with the widow even as the widow’s first son, Okechukwu Malachi, said he and his siblings are still students and wondered how they will cope without a home.
According to the oldest man in the village, Chief Nwankwo Nwabunwane, the tree which has strong bearing with the community has been in existence before their forefathers and has never killed anyone nor destroyed property.
A neighbour, Mrs Elizabeth Oguegbunam, wondered why the three fell, noting that there was no rain or storm before the incidence.
Also speaking a community leader, Sir James Oduche regretted that rebuilding the widow’s house will be a challenge
