Anambra Assembly wants Contractor return to Awgbu - Amaetiti -Okpeze - Ndiukwuenu Road Project

www.odogwublog.com reports that after four years of abandon and suffering by some communities in Orumba North, the State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Willie Obiano to direct the contracting firm handling the construction of Awgbu, Amaetiti-Okpeze, Ndiukwuenu road to go back to site.

The resolution was sequel to a motion sponsored to that effect by the member representing Orumba North Constituency Chief Romanus Obi during yesterday’s plenary in Awka.

The House also urged the Commissioner for Road Construction, Maintenance and Furniture to direct the Chairman Anambra State Tenders Board to send the Approved Revised Estimated Total Cost of the project to the state Executive Council Meeting for approval.
The road was awarded by former Governor Peter Obi and work has reached advanced stage when Obiano took over and for 4 years nothing was done on the site.
Moving the motion, Chief Obi emphasized that early completion of the project would save the state government from spending more funds on the project, if it was not completed before the rains set in.

On his part, the Deputy Speaker, Sir Hafford Oseke, noted that completion of the project would alleviate the suffering of the road users and facilitate movement of goods and services.

In their separate contributions, the Majority Leader, Chief Victor Okoye, the Chairman House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Kingsley Iruba, the Chief Whip, Mr. Lawrence Ezeudu, and the member representing Ayamelum constituency, Mr. Uchenna Okafor spoke in favour of the motion.

The Speaker, Barrister Rita Maduagwu expressed confidence that Governor Willie Obiano would direct the contracting firm back to site as he places high premium on good road network.
