Imo state on fire , N10 Million Bush bar in Imo Deputy Governor’s lodge, 4 other houses razed

www.odogwublog.com reports that Imo state government House was on fire and the official residence of Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere was gutted by fire.

Fire as well gutted down four other locations including the popular Owerri Joint, "Ibari Ogwa Village" along Owerri- Port Harcourt Road; Chris-T Gas station, Egbu; Choco Foods in Mbaitoli; and G-Towers Hotel, Port Harcourt Road were all gutted by fire same day.

Security details attached to the lodge told www.odogwublog.com that the fire may have been caused by bush burning carried out by some people across the fence which may have settled on the roof of the bush bar.

At the Deputy Governor's lodge, operatives of the Fire Service and staff of the Deputy Governor were seen making frantic efforts to quell the fire which had already consumed the bush bar and one of the buses parked in the compound.

Meanwhile, Prince Madumere was said to be out of the State during the inferno which left the bush bar totally razed.

Speaking on the development, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Uche Onwuchekwa said they were grateful to God that no life was lost just as he put the cost of damage at N10million.

On his part, Police Public Relations Officer for Imo State, Andrew Enwerem (SP) confirmed the incident adding that their men, ensured the fire was put off.

At Ibari Ogwa village, the Chief Executive Officer, Chukwudi Ofoha said the incident was as a result of carelessness of some neighbours who set the nearby bush on fire without monitoring its movement.

Speaking with journalists, the State Commissioner for Public Safety, Prince Chidi Nwaturuocha said "I was in Mbaitoli where we went to help to put out fire at Choco Foods which factory was gutted by fire early afternoon. It was there that I got a call that Ibari Ogwa was on fire. I had to organise our fire service men who instantly raced down to this place to curtail the fire from reaching other buildings within the complex".

He advised hotel and business outfit owners to always engage the services of professionals especially in this harmattan season, recalled that the incident at Choco foods was exactly what led to a gas explosion that left four person dead at petrol station in Orji, Owerri late last year.
