Landlord Kills Tenant 48 Hours to His Wedding

 

Resident of Owerri, the Imo State capital are still grappling with shock as a 33-year-old res­ident, Mr. Udochuk­wu Iwuoha, has been killed by his landlord, Mr. Paul Oparaugo and family members, over the deceased’s complaints of irritating smell in his room from the landlord’s poultry.

 

Until his death, the victim lived at No. 53, Onumonu Street, Ow­erri and was an artisan who specialised in the fixing of aluminum fit­tings in houses and of­fices.

Udo, as he was fondly called, was heard arguing with his land­lord over the continu­ous smell of the poultry near his apartment.

  

Udoh was said to be arguing with Oparaugo who until the incident was a security man working with a branch of a new generation bank.

The landlord, along­side his wife and chil­dren, including 17-year-old Ndubuisi, are said to be hot-tempered.

While the shouting match persisted, neigh­bours alleged that they heard a scuffle and sud­den quietness. Thereaf­ter, the landlord and his family of seven fled the house, an action that triggered suspicion.

The family members are Chiemezie, Ndu­buisi, Ugochinyere, Chidera and Deborah who allegedly commit­ted the wicked act. It was alleged that only the last child, Michael, a primary school pupil that didn’t take part in the murder.

Upon enquiry, Udo was found in a pool of his blood, stabbed on his neck with deep cuts. He was alleged to have died before he could be rushed to the nearest hospital.

Udo, who hailed from Abajah in Nwangele Lo­cal Government Area of Imo State, was scheduled to perform wine-car­rying rites (traditional marriage) to his heart­throb tomorrow.

At the victim’s resi­dence, the one-storey building was deserted, as irate residents had bro­ken in, and thrown the landlord’s belongings out of the window. They also destroyed his property.
Already, the remains of Udo have been de­posited at the morgue while the Police have vis­ited the scene and com­menced investigation.

Sources said that the landlord is highhanded and at every little alterca­tion, will threaten to deal with somebody.
