www.odogwublog.com reports that an Igbo socio-political organization, Imeobi Igbo Forum, yesterday
in Onitsha, said it would in two
weeks' time organize a debate for all the gubernatorial
candidates in the state irrespective of party affiliation.
The National Chairman of the forum, Chief Dr. Mike Onugha,
gave the hint while speaking to newsmen.
Onugha said: "we will be having the debate to enable
the
candidates tell the people how they intend to pilot the
affairs of the
state if elected."
"We intend to ensure that whoever that is able to lead
the people, we will support him. We need somebody that will be responsive to
the yearnings of the poor people"
"The people should know their manifesto, antecedents
and how they intend to run the state so that they will know who to
support"
The Chairman of the forum reiterated that, "though we
are not just doing it for only Anambra state, we will do it in the entire Igbo States
as we have our tentacles spread across the zone when the need for them arises’’.
He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) to provide for successful election by not disenfranchising eligible voters.
"We will not tolerate rigging, manipulation of results
and other electoral malpractices," he warned
