www.odogwublog.com reports that a 17 year old girl, , and two men were yesterday paraded by the Imo State Police command for allegedly impersonating the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Chief Uche Nwosu, and defrauding unsuspecting Imo people of huge sums of money.
The other persons are: Nwokoma Ezeakachi who hails from Umuasonye Umuariam in Obowo local government area of Imo State; Reuben Ogwuonye from Andoni in Rivers State; while Hope hails from Omoku in Rivers State.
They were paraded for using a cloned Facebook account with the name Hon Ugwumba Uche Nwosu to defraud innocent job seekers and land buyers.
The trio were alleged to have opened the Facebook page claiming transactions relating to allocation of lands, award of contracts, fertilizer distribution, and employment opportunities.
Further, they were accused of swindling people who paid huge sums of money into Nwosu's purported accounts for various projects ranging from land, etcetera.
However, the trio claimed they are agents of Quickteller, who help customers transact financial dealings either to pay into another account or withdraw money using e-banking platforms.
According to them, they are not aware that the customers they helped were fraudsters, just as they denied knowledge that their phone numbers were used by the fraudsters to fool unsuspecting people.
Meanwhile, a commercial tricycle operator, Nnamdi Nwachukwu was also paraded with two other men for armed robbery, for trying to rob a sales boy with Oando filling station of about N1 million.
Chibuike Odunze and Kelvin Orjiugo were paraded with Nnamdi for using a keke to trail the Sales boy on Aba road but were arrested following intelligence gathering just before they struck.
On her part, Mrs Uzodinma Okenyi was rescued from kidnappers unhurt by the Egbema Police division inside a Caravan at the abandoned Police College Obiakpu.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Andrew Enwerem said the new whistle blowing strategy introduced into policing in the state is yielding tremendous results, adding that criminality has reduced to the barest minimum, saying "there is no exit or entry of criminals into the State".
According to him, intelligence suggests that criminals may have relocated out of the State or are at the drawing boards, trying to evolve new crime strategies.
He said the visibility policing is yielding tremendous results, and called on the people to see police as their friend.
