Widow, Lady Juliana OnuorahWeeps in court in Anambra, accuses Roman Catholic Church of taking her property by force

www.odogwublog.com reports that Lady Juliana Onuorah, 92 year old widow yesterday told an Ogidi High court amidst weeping, that she is being intimidated by the Roman Catholic Church over her acres of land because her husband is dead and she has only a daughter.

She told Court in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state, that the Archbishop Valerian Okeke and the church want to take over her property by force.
While testifying at the court yesterday as she was being cross examined by the Defendant’s counsel, CJ Asiegbu, Lady Juliana Onuorah, said she did not sign any document with her late husband with the Catholic Church.
She told the Justice Vincent Agbata court that all the documents being bandied around by the Catholic Church and their lawyers were all forged.
The widow and her only daughter Patricia had dragged Archbishop Okeke, the Catholic Church, including her younger brother Lazarus Enemuo to court over alleged force claim to their property situated at Nkpor in the same local government area.
Others equally sued included their sister in law, Emilia Enemuo, Mr and Mrs Oliver and Martina Akponye, a former pianist for Saint Theresa’s society and her cook respectively for conniving with the church against them among others.
The woman further denied that 30 million naira was raised during a launch to build “Our Lady’s” church, with the Catholic Church, and questioned those asking such questions whether they were there when the said amount was brought.
Furthermore, Lady Onuorah told the court that she was not aware of any surveyor that surveyed her land as being claimed by the church, adding that they want to use intimidation to acquire her property she laboured for over the years.
The old woman and her only daughter Patricia were being represented in the case by two lawyers Theodore Udochi and I. O Oni, while the archbishop and Catholic Church were being represented by A.C Anaenugwu (SAN) and Osita Nnadi (SAN) C J Asiegbu among others.
However, the high point of the cross examination came when the presiding judge, Justice Vincent Agbata told Asiegbu to reduce repetition of questions which according to him were stressing up the widow.
But Asiegbu said the woman did not give him enough gap in age, but Justice Agbata said it was not true, that the age bracket between them was wide.
Onuorah further told the court that the land being claimed by Catholic Church had never been in dispute, adding that the Archbishop and his church should leave her land for them.
According to her, “you people are doing all these things because I lost my husband and because I have only a daughter to fight for me, you should leave my property for me and my daughter please” Onuorah said in court.
