www.odogwublog.com reports that again two persons, including a traffic warden were sent to early graves on Monday night when a heavy duty truck lost control and rammed into a commercial tricycle (keke Napep) at the Imo State University, Owerri, (IMSU) junction.
One of the victims was a lady, Kelechi who until her death was a staff of Imo Civil Guard, a state owned security organization, assigned to the junction for free traffic flow.
Kelechi was said to have just finished her morning shift and handed over to her reliever, when she boarded the ill fated tricycle heading to World Bank area, that was crushed.
Sources said the un-numbered heavy duty truck was approaching from Okigwe axis and heading into Owerri, but lost control at the IMSU junction and rammed into the tricycle.
Two people died on the spot while another passenger was badly injured, and is receiving treatment at a hospital.
A source, Ikenna said "he driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle. It is unfortunate that the only object closest to him was the tricycle which he jumped on. Two persons, including a staff of Imo Civil Guard who just closed for the day's duty were killed. The third victim has been hospitalized ".
Ikenna explained that the truck driver just alighted and bolted away, for fear of being lynched, while his truck is still abandoned there.
Meanwhile, the truck is still on the road, disturbing the free flow of vehicular movement.
Police spokesperson for Imo state, DSP Andrew Enwerem, could not be reached for comments.
The IMSU roundabout has claimed many lives in the last five years.
