N1.6 Billion flood relief : Anambra protests to FG, demands N100 Million from Osinbajo

www.odogwublog.com reports that Anambra state Government yesterday evening protested non inclusion in the directive by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, to release the sum of N1.6 billion to 16 states affected by flooding in the ongoing raining season.

Anambra state government during a monthly press briefing at the state Secretariat by the Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnacheta, said Anambra state could not miss the fund which was meant to cushion the effects of flooding on victims.

www.odogwublog.com reports that the money would be drawn out of the Federal Government Ecological Account domiciled in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and released to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for onward distribution to the affected victims.

According to Nnacheta , the state has protested the non inclusion to the Acting President and he has assured Anambra would be included as it was a mistake. He said since it was an error that the state is hoping to receive its N100M .

He said the Government has provided 27 speed boats , and Ambulances to the Riverine areas as well as Motorbikes and Tricycle Ambulances to the 65 Primary Health Centers in the state. He said the state has provided seed money for its National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) at the tune of N200 Million.
He announced that the state would by August present a 283 page document detailing its fact sheet and scorecard on Governor Willie Obiano.
