Bank robbery in Anambra ; security man tied, 2 arrested

www.odogwublog.com reports that a three-man robbery gang saturday at about 1.00 a m  stormed one of the Union banks located at Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area,
Anambra State, tied the security man's hands at the back, cut the iron
door with the cutting machine they came with and  penetrated inside the bank.

The target of the robbers who were armed to the teeth was to open the
volt and cart away the money there in but their aim became a mission
impossible as efforts made to get to the volt was futile due to the
barriers to the volt.

They were said to have spent about three hours struggling to cut the
four barriers to the volt but succeeded in three and because time was
no longer on their side as it was almost day break, about 5.00 a.m,
they in anger collected only the laptop and left.

Luck ran out on them when the police, on a tip-off caught  one of the
robbers with the laptop who assisted to arrest the second person while
the third is  now at large.

Confirming the incident, the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr
Mark Ijarafu, said "they could not get to the volt that was their
target because time was not on their side"

"luckily we have arrested two out of the three-man bank robbers of one of the
Union banks at Nkpor and they
confessed that the aim was to cart away the money in the volt.we are
still looking for the third person"

"The two arrested have been transferred to the Special Anti Robbery
Squad, SARS, for further investigation" he revealed further.

In a similar development the Ogidi Police Division also arrested
another armed robber, recovered one locally made pistol from him
while his gang members escaped with bullet wounds when the police
pursued them after  robbing Kogi state traders at Building materials
market Ogidi.

"The robers drove in an ash coloured mitsubishi bus with registration
No. AWK424XJ
and two motorbikes and as the police were pursuing them, on getting to
Burkingham Polytechnic, along Ogidi/ Abatete road the police shot at
the tyre and the bus saumersulted into the bush and the robbers ran
away but not without bullet wounds."

Recovered in the bus included, Cameroun money, CFA 5,688,500 and 25
GSM handsets.

Confirming the incident, the DPO said that "they go on convoy and as
they were  robbing the traders we had a distress call and  rushed
and on gettingto the scene we saw them and pursued them. We shot at the bush
and it skided of the road and the robbers escaped with bullet wounds"

"The first arrested one of the motorbike armed robbers with a gun and
the rest ran away and we have equally ransferred him to SARS"
