NDLEA presents items worth Millions of gifts from Igwe Alex Oyido of Ogidi to Anambra Secondary schools

 www.odogwublog.com reports that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Anambra State command has presented items worth millions of naira to secondary schools that participated in this year’s 4th edition of Lady Victoria Oyido quiz competition for secondary schools in the state.
The quiz competition, which aimed at curbing illicit drugs among secondary school students in Anambra state, was solely sponsored by the traditional ruler of Ogidi kingdom in Idemili North Local Government Area, HRM, Igwe Pharmacist Alex Oyido.
Some items presented to winners include laptop computer sets, over nine inches plasma television, school bags, assorted books and cash of N35, 000 each to the students for their JAMB, WAEC and NECO forms while their teachers smiled home with N20, 000 each.
 The overall best school in the competition was also presented with a brand new matching band.

In the competition, Anglican Girls secondary school, Oba came first and emerged overall best school; Girls secondary school, Igboukwu came second while Modebe Memorial Secondary school, Onitsha trailed behind with third position.
Presenting the items, the NDLEA commander in Anambra State, Mr. Sule Momodu expressed satisfaction that the competition which started four years ago, has yielded positive result in terms of illicit drug abuse reduction in secondary schools.
He commended Anambra state government for giving approval for establishment of Drug Free Clubs in secondary schools, which, according to him, is very active in various schools across the state.
He however appealed to the Post Primary school service commission (PPSSC) to make the competition an annual celebration that will have a fixed date to pave way for more schools to participate in the competition, regretting that only 64 out of over 170 schools participated in the 4th edition.
 In his remarks, the sponsor of the competition, Igwe Oyido said his interest is to assist NDLEA in fighting illicit drug abuse that is rampant among youths.
He also beckoned on Governor Willie Obiano to control the spread of beer parlors and relaxation centres in the state, which, he said, breeds crime and criminalities.
He commended NDLEA for their commitment in fighting drug abuse and peddlers in the country, adding that drug addiction and abuse lead to  kidnapping, armed robbery and prostitution.
Governor Willie Obiano, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha appreciated the sponsor, Igwe Oyido and NDLEA for the gesture, saying that his administration is committed to giving the students education that is globally competitive.
On her part, the Principal of Anglican Girls Secondary school, Oba, Mrs Chibueze Peace, thanked NDLEA commander for the initiative to the grassroots, which she said will help to deliver students from illicit drug abuse.
