APC candidates throw support to Obiano as aspirant blunders in 1st APC guber declaration

www.odogwublog.com reports that for the Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), it is a walk over and one-down count, as one of the 14 aspirants in the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) in the November 18, 2017 governorship candidate, Donatus Okonkwo believably counted himself out of the race.
The technical blunder witnessed when he weakened his support base appears to narrow the race among top contenders including Senator Andy Uba, Dr. Tony Nwoye, Engr. Bart Nwibe, Chief Chike Obidigbo, Barrister Obinna Uzoh and Chief George Moghalu.
For the few supporters of the APC who thronged the venue of the declaration at Emmaus House, Awka, to witness the APC’s first governorship aspirant to declare his interest to run on the party’s platform, it was a huge mistake as he abandoned his supporters without a human face, a situation that may have weakened his support base.
Many expressed worry if he did home work well over an uninformed tirade that Anambra State is witnessing falling standard in education, a development that made one listener to dismiss his uninformed eruption..
APC’s Okonkwo while making his declaration promised to run a transparent government, not built on deceit and waste, adding that he would do partner with the people to actualize their dream of god governance.
He assured the youths that his administration would be people-oriented and youth-focused, adding that he would generate wealth and create job opportunities for the teeming youths like he did with 1,460 employees in his employ.
It was gathered that hardly had the function come to a close when he stormed outside and sped off, leaving less than 300 party faithful who attended the event on their own, even without a transport fare to take them home.
His stance, undoubtedly elicited outpouring of spiteful remarks by his hopeless supporters some of who wondered aloud, how he could manage a bigger audience when the chips are down.
According to one of the unsettled party supporters who looked like a fresh graduate who claimed he was starved at the occasion, “all the talks about the aspirant’s pedigree as a Tetrazzini food connoisseur have come to naught. Imagine, food which is his area of specialization did not go round. How does he think he can get the support of the delegates who will vote for money-bags.
Investigations reveal that he might be a spoiler, allegedly being fronted by his elder brother, Annie Okonkwo who left APC for PDP before hobnobbing with APGA-led governor Obiano through whom he has acquired massive hectares of land to commence 1000 units of housing estate-project.
According to pundits, absence of Senator Chris Ngige, State Party Chairman, Emeka Ibe and most loyalists of Ngige occupying sensitive positions in the party’s State Executive is a thing of worry.
The seeming faulty start by APC in its first declaration outing has woken up forlorn hope of APGA members who are yet to recover from the jolting Martin Agbaso-APGA leadership hijack syndrome, judicial firing of the Local Government Transition Committee and threat of APC chieftains in and outside the State that Governor Obiano should start preparing handover note, as APC would ostensibly overrun Anambra State come November 2017 election.
