Anambra state Drivers sack other Governorship Aspirants , endorse Obiano

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Anambra State Drivers Welfare Association (ADWA) has honoured Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state with the Award for excellence performance in security. The association through its president Chief Emma Ukatu said that majority of the commercial drivers in the state have decided to support the governor’s second term bid.
Recently, huge crowd gathered at the Justice Chuba Ikpeazu stadium, Onitsha for the launching of  the 150 million naira Anambra Drivers Welfare Foundation (ADWF) and Anambra drivers day celebration.
Chief Ukatu said that Governor Obiano deserved the support of everybody in the state, irrespective of party affiliation because he has touched positively the life o every resident and indigene of Anambra state particularly in the area of provision of security.
“Before now, the people of the state were afraid to come and live and do their business in the state, those in Diaspora were afraid to come home for festivities but today the story is different, the state has been adjudged as the safest in the federation all because of the doggedness of Akpokuedike Global, for which he has won so many awards from organizations and groups in the country, including the media”, said Ukatu.
Furthermore, Ukatu said that the governor provided vehicles to improve transported services in the state, adding that Governor Obiano ensured peace in the motor parks for smooth running of transport business.
“The state has enjoyed good road networks,  more vehicles by His Excellency.  At a time in this state, transport business was bastardized by the activities of groups with all manner of unapproved emblems, Akpokuedike came to our rescue by scrapping and banning fictitious emblems, multiple taxation, multiple tickets sold by faceless agents”, Ukatu said.
However, Ukatu said that the reason for establishing the 150 million naira ADWF was to take of drivers who run into health and accident problems in the course of their jobs, saying that the foundation would help bereaved members with loans, grants as the case might be. He appealed to the governor to assist the drivers with soft loans to enable them procure vehicles to keep the transport industry going.
Responding to the requests, Governor Obiano ably represented by his deputy Dr. Nkem Okeke expressed his gratitude for the award and recognition given to him because of the numerous achievements by the present administration saying that His Excellency was donating two buses and 2 million naira cash to the foundation.
“I have heard your requests and unbehalf of His Excellency receive this award and he will provide two buses and two million naira cash. I urge you to support the Anambra north to go for two terms so that there will be peace because the central have taken their slot. After which we shall vote in a person from Anambra south for another two terms. We, Igbos must have one voice and All Progressive Grand Alliance party is the only Igbo Party we have as a platform.
Earlier in his address the outgoing president of ADWA and incumbent president of Urban drivers welfare association (UDWAAS) Chief Nnamdi Okafor said he was happy for the support of Governor Obiano during his tenure saying that he termed the award given to His Excellency as award of  best governor and friend of drivers.
Comrade Okafor urged the drivers to always project the interest of APGA even while conveying passengers because of the dividend of democracy the party has brought to Ndi Anambra.
Comrade Okafor said the essence of drivers day was to celebrate drivers and protect interest of drivers in case of accident, face off with transport owners or law enforcement agencies.
He thanked people like Chief Sir Sam Mendu and Chief G.U Okeke for their immense contributions        to drivers welfare.
Highlight of the occasion was the inauguration of ADWA state executive by the Deputy Governor.
