Anambra Guber poll: 600, 000 may be disenfranchised- CLO

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Anambra State Chairman of the Civil liberties Organization, CLO, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, hinted yesterday that about 600,000 legible voters may be disenfranchised in the 18 November 2017 gubernatorial election sequel to lack of electoral wards and polling units.
He urged the state Resident Electoral Commissioner to take urgent step  towards the creation of new wards and polling units to forestall the disenfranchising of legible voters.
He recalled that “earlier I called on the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state prior to the commencement of the voters registration exercise to create electoral wards in the lay outs scattered all over the state.
“ I wish to reiterate my earlier call on INEC to decentralize voters registration  exercise in the state in order to ensure many  legible voters obtain their  cards to participate in the coming voting exercise’’.
On the non conduct of the election in the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, he stated that “it is despicable and unacceptable to contain the delay to conduct the election there for nearly two years after Senator Uche Ekwunife’s election was nullified by court”.
“I wish to appeal to the political gladiators in the area to think of the next generation and not next election and the needful by withdrawing all court cases that are impediment to the conduct of election there. INEC should expedite action towards the conduct of election in the senatorial zone while all money accorded  to the zone should be kept by the senate until a new senator emerges for the development of the zone”, he posited.
