TRADERS TO BENEFIT MORE FROM ANAMBRA CARGO AIRPORT-NWANKWO

“I now prefer Anambra Rice to foreign rice, we enjoy security and peace in our various communities and markets, the 20 million naira and 10 million naira allocated to all the towns and major markets respectively in Anambra state for developmental projects and the recent ground breaking of the much anticipated Umueri Cargo Airport which will benefit all traders in Igbo land are achievements to prove that governor Obiano has not done badly in his 3 years in office amidst economic recession”
The above statement was made by the president of Building Materials International Market, Chief Jude Nwankwo while talking to newsmen recently in his office at Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State.
Chief Nwankwo said that it was rather unfortunate that the country was facing hard times due to economic recession but Governor Obaino has not relented in trying to provide democracy dividends for the people of Anambra state, adding that the governor has provided an enabling environment which has attracted investors to come and partner with the government to boost the economy of the South East.
Nwankwo described the Airport project as the greatest gift and democracy dividend to the people of south east which were predominantly traders. He said that it would not only boost the economic activities but would generate employment opportunities in the state.
“Before in Anambra state, there was no security; kidnapping, armed robbery, pick pockets, car snatching was the order of the day but immediately Gov. Obiano came into power all those things stopped and these alone had made our state a safe place to invest  or do business. For instance, this airport project is carried out by the Chinese. They are here because of security” Nwankwo said.
“Also in agriculture he has done very well especially in the production of Anambra rice. I now prefer Anambra rice to foreign because the local rice is better. Gov Obiano also gave grants to farmers through Anambra state Business Agency (ASBA) which has improved farming and economic activities in the state”, said Nwankwo.
More so,  Nwankwo said that the Governor could be described as a peace broker both in the various communities and in the markets.
“If you look around now, peace is reigning in Anambra state. Some communities having problems and leadership tussles are now in peace and have been able to select and crown their Igwes. Likewise some markets previously thriving on caretaker committee has now been able to elect their executives. All these were made possible because of the proficiency of the present administration,” he said.
“The 20 million naira per community developmental project is working. In my community Umuawuru in Awka South Local Government Area, they used their own to build a road that passed through my particular village compound. Here, in this market work will soon commence at the road behind this building materials market as our own market development project with 10 million naira to be allocated to us after the passage of budget” he said.
