Sullivan Chime lambasts Ike Ekweremadu , says APC is the only viable National Party

www.odogwublog.com reports that  the immediate past Governor of Enugu state, Mr Sullivan Chime, has described the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress,APC, as  the only viable National Party in the country, of which to a large extent  informed his decision to align with the party.

Chime who addressed news men at his Enugu residence on Tuesday night disclosed that he will officially register as a card carrying member of APC, on Saturday, May 6, in his ward at Udi,his country home.

Ex Governor Chime who was elected under the platform of People's Democratic Party, PDP, for the two terms of  Eight years he governed Enugu state, said the PDP is presently a dead party, awaiting INEC de registration, based on the protracted leadership crisis that has rocked the party.

A problem that has necessitated mass exodus of political stalwarts who still wish to stake or contribute in the nation's political process. Therefore, his reason to have considered joining APC.

He lamented that his candid opinion to join APC has generated series of campaigns of calumny against his personality, stating the most annoying to him came from the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, representing Enugu .West senatorial district in the National assembly.

His words, '“Nobody says anything nice about how we governed the state. On one occasion in Aninri, at a reception organized for David Ajah, Deputy Senate President shamelessly accused me of having abandoned Aninri, his local government area.  He said I didn’t appoint Permanent Secretary from Aninri and you people published without verifying it'..

Chime said, “I used the word' shamelessly because somebody of that status, a former Chief of Staff to the Governor, a former Secretary to State Government, should have cross checked his facts and not to dish out lies.

'Not minding that Aninri was the smallest local government with just 10 wards, I had a policy of making sure everybody was represented in line with the Federal Character enshrined in our constitution'.

“I assured every local government had a commissioner. There was no time we lacked an Aninri person in the State Executive Council. In my first tenure, Okezie Nwanjoku was the first person I appointed as Commissioner for Youth and Sports. At the beginning of my second tenure, I appointed David Ajah, the person in whose house Ekweremadu told lies against me as Commissioner for Water Resources. He did not do well and we removed him and replaced him with Professor Okolo, also from Aninri. There was no time Aninri person was lacking in my executive.

Chime said that the reasons of the campaign of calumny against his personality were based on speculations that he will join the context for Enugu West Senatorial district in 2019. He stressed that he is yet to decide whether to gun for any political office in 2019 but meanwhile he just want to belong to APC,which he insists is the only viable national party in the country.

Answering questions, Ex Governor Chime refused to comment on whether his successor, Governor Ugwuanyi is doing well or not. But with the on going political movement cut across the country, APC may takeover Enugu state in 2019. He denied having personal issues with his predecessor and acclaimed political godfather, Ex Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, stating they differed on political grounds when Nnamani left PDP and floated PDC.
